                          MAMECE3 Release Notes
                          ---------------------

MameCE3 is simple to use.
Simply connect your PocketPC to your Desktop system,
Then run the MameCE3Install.exe Self Installer application.
Download the Game ROMs that you want to play from the Internet.
Put the zipped ROM files in the ROMS subdirectory,
and put zipped sample files in the samples subdirectory.

Manual Installation:
--Create a folder structure that you like
I prefer the following:
\MameCE
\MameCE\ROMS
and \MameCE\SAMPLES
Put MameCE3.exe in the folder called MameCE (or in the folder that you created). Put
zipped ROM files in the ROMS subdirectory, and put zipped sample files in the samples subdirectory.
Put gx.dll in your \windows directory.

Run MameCE3.

Known problems
--------------
Known limitations:
Various games still run very slowly.. too slowly to play. It is suprising that even though these games
run on processors which are almost two decades old, the processors on the Pocket PCs still have trouble
emulating them. GAPI Support, Direct Screen Access, and some clever programming have helped speed things
up. There's still a bit of work to do to get more games running decently.
WARNING: Make sure you have a few megs free on your device after installing MAMECE3. If you run out of
ram, MAMECE3 will not play any games, it will just show a black screen, show a black screen breifly and
then go back to the menu, and/or lock up. If this is what's happening to you, free up some memory on
your device. MAMECE3 was tested on a Devices with 32 megs, with about 6-8 megs free.

Known Bugs
----------
Sound is now working but it is a bit rough in some games. Sound has a memory leak. After playing for
some time the system loses memory. Do a soft reboot to recover any lost memory. Some items in the MAME
Configuration UI are not working (such as frameskipping inc and dec). Key delay on the Casio. After
letting go of a key, there is a delay before it responds. Casio version is still very slow in many games.
Other items, i'm sure ;) Let me know if you run across anything special.

Acknowledgements
----------------
Thanks to Ben Cooley for doing the original Port to WinCE for the Palm Sized PC devices. Thanks to both
the MAME Team and the MAME32 team for all their hard work. I have borrowed a few snippets and some
formatting from their Readme Files in order to make this project consistant with the other MAME Projects.
Thanks also to Marconelly for creating the icons used in this release and for the design of the MAMECE3
Web Site. And Thanks to everyone else who contributed to this project and helped make it a success.
