Problems communicating with the phone
Overview
Simple Call is a Pocket PC application that allows the user to dial a "Contacts" telephone number directly from the Pocket PC. Simple Call can be invoked from the "Contacts" application or run independently.
To dial direct from the "Contacts" application Simple Call installs a "Call Now" menu item on the "Tools" menu bar or the pop up menu. Just select "Call Now" to use Simple Call to dial your selected contact's telephone number.
Screen Layout
The Simple Call screen layout emulates a telephone keypad
On depressing any of the "0" through "9", "*" or "#" buttons the DTMF (Dual Tone Multiple Frequency) tone will be played (if sounds are enabled in "Options").
Buttons "2" through to "9" also show the usual alphabet letters for alphabetic dialling.
The "Dial" button is depicted by a green uplifted telephone handset symbol.
The "Hangup" button is depicted by a red idle (horizontal) telephone handset symbol.
The "Delete" button is smaller and is depicted by a triangle pointing to the left.
The "+" button is used to indicate an international call and will be replaced by the appropriate dialling code.
The "P" button implements a 1 second pause when dialling.
The drop down combo box at the top of the display will be populated with a contact's associated telephone numbers and/or allows direct input via the number buttons or the keyboard.
The status bar at the bottom of the screen display provides information messages.
Options
To access the options dialogue box select File > Options from the menu.
Prefix contact numbers with - If you need to prefix telephone numbers before dialling, e.g. 9, enter the prefix in the "Prefix contact numbers with" input box.

Problems communicating with the phone
If you are experiencing problems communicating with the phone some points to consider are:-
1. The phone is busy especially if just powered up and talking on air. After powering on the phone leave for 2-3 mins before using Simple SMS.
2. The Pocket PC is still connected to the desktop PC. This will slow the performance and may prevent Infra Red access altogether if using the same COM port.
3. Other Infra Red or Bluetooth devices/phones are in range.
4. Sometimes the phone can get confused and think it still has a connection try powering the phone off and on.
5. The Infra Red or Bluetooth has turned off on the phone because it has not been used for a fixed period.
6. Most phones allow you to turn on the Infra Red or Bluetooth permanently, because of intermittent access it maybe best set to always on while using Simple Call.
7. Low power on the phone battery or Pocket PC will cause the Infra Red or Bluetooth to shut down.
